3 Ways to Style a Plaid Skirt!
Let’s be real, plaid skirts are a trend that never really dies! It seams like every decade they make a resurgence in popularity and for good reason. Plaid skirts are cute, flirty and best of all they are versatile but they can also be a bit difficult to style at first. This adorable fashion staple can be out of some peoples comfort zone and can sometimes feel ‘“too girly” or “to posh” but I’m here to tell you that you can take this never ending trend and make it fit into your own style. Here are 3 different ways that I like to style a basic plaid skirt, hopefully they can give you some inspo to do the same
Sweet and Simple!
Let’s start with the simplest of them all! Pairing a cute sweater and over the knee boots is a classic and timeless way to style a plaid skirt! You can use a cropped sweater or tuck the bottom of your sweater into the bottom of your bra (as I did in this photo) to give it a cropped look, this will help avoid any bulging from tucking the sweater in. If you don’t have over the knee boots, no worries! You can go with a pair of tights or over the knee stockings and a cute pair of booties and you’ll achieve a very similar look!
Dress Her Up!
Now let’s add in a bit of sassiness to our style! Pairing your skirt with a colored blazer or leather jacket and some strappy heals is a great way to dress your skirt up! This allows you to add a fun pop of color while also maintaining a more put together and mature look. This look would be perfect for a date night or holiday party!
A Touch of Edge!
Last but certainly not least, let’s add a little edge to it! Pairing your skirt with a graphic tee, a leather or denim jacket, and some cute booties is a great way to add a little edginess to your look while also making it much more casual! Styling it like this is the perfect way to add the plaid skirt into your everyday style and not just pulling it out for special events.
